S.T.E.M. at Meadow View Learning
STEM learning at Meadow View Learning offers hands-on exploration, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving. Students are guided to ask meaningful questions, test ideas, and understand how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics shape the world around them.
Our STEM offerings emphasize:
- careful observation and inquiry
- responsible use of tools and technology
- collaboration and perseverance
- connecting theory to practice
As a Christian learning community, we approach scientific study with humility, curiosity, and respect for truth.
Current STEM Activities & Resources
Scientific Research Participation (Folding@Home)
Older students may participate in Folding@Home, a global citizen-science project that supports real scientific research in protein dynamics and disease study.
Through guided participation, students:
- learn how computational science supports medical research
- explore concepts related to biology, chemistry, and data science
- contribute meaningfully to a larger scientific effort
This experience introduces students to authentic research practices and the role of collaboration in scientific discovery.
(Participation is supervised and age-appropriate.)
Science Exploration Area
Our science area is equipped to support hands-on experiments and demonstrations in areas such as:
- basic chemistry
- physics and mechanics
- observation-based science
Students develop lab skills, practice safe procedures, and learn to document and reflect on their findings.
Engineering & Design Lab
Our lab space includes computers and a 3D printer, allowing students to explore engineering, design, and problem-solving through practical projects.
Students may:
- design and modify digital models
- learn the basics of prototyping and iteration
- explore how machines and tools interact with the physical world
- Projects are guided by instructors and emphasize responsibility, creativity, and thoughtful use of technology.
Looking Ahead: Summer STEM Offerings
Meadow View Learning plans to expand STEM programming during the summer months with additional hands-on classes and workshops.
Planned areas of focus may include:
- engineering and design challenges
- applied science projects
- technology and digital modeling
- collaborative problem-solving
- Details about specific summer offerings, age ranges, and schedules will be shared as plans are finalized.
Who STEM Programming Is For
STEM programming at Meadow View Learning is designed for students who:
- enjoy hands-on learning and exploration
- are curious about how things work
- are willing to engage thoughtfully and responsibly
- benefit from guided instruction within a structured environment
